Doctors have successfully completed the world’s first penis transplant! They say that the patient has made a full recovery and is already using his new body part!
Telegraph.co.uk says that doctors in South Africa carried out the procedure on a 21-year-old man who “suffered an amputation following a botched traditional circumcision three years ago.”
They says that the nine hour operation took the penis from a donor (the man had passed away) and attached it to the young man who needed it. Doctors have confirmed that the recipient has made a full recovery and that the organ is in working order.
The doctor said:
“It’s a massive breakthrough. We’ve proved that it can be done – we can give someone an organ that is just as good as the one that he had. It was a privilege to be part of this first successful penis transplant in the world.”
